Until you have run the script, be sure to keep an HDMI display connected while you are setting up the pi, so that the HDMI connection does not go to sleep. Note: Formerly, you had to edit the /boot/config.txt file here, but I automated this step. #Raspbian once i run a script it slows down download#The easiest way to do this is to download the free program Etcher ( )ĭrag and drop the disk image you downloaded into etcher along with the mounted SD card. You will need to flash that img file to the SD card. #Raspbian once i run a script it slows down 64 Bit#**Be warned that right now the INDI SBIG driver does not compile in 64 bit on the ARM architecture, so if you are using an SBIG camera on a Pi, use an armhf (32 bit) image. Probably get an image that is Ubuntu or Raspbian for now. My scripts so far are all based on Ubuntu or Raspbian, so you should If you are using a different SBC, you should find an appropriate image for your system. Download latest version of an image for your SBC.When you are ready, you can follow these steps: Use the script as is or add or remove certain lines before running it by adding or removing comment symbols from the front of the line (#). Hopefully this is much easier to use.īefore running the script, please be sure to do some research and read up on all that it will do to your Raspberry Pi or other SBC. In Fall 2017, I was configuring another PI, went back to my instructions and his guide and followed both. James Taylor wrote a beginners guide which can be accessed here: Then several users on, especially James Taylor ( u2pilotjt ), tested my steps and helped me revise them. #Raspbian once i run a script it slows down series#I first developed the series of steps by research, trial, and error So that it can be an Astrophotography hub using INDI, KStars, and Ekos. This is why I think my best bet would be to have my python script run when another use logs in.This script is meant to automate the many setup steps involved with configuring a Raspberry Pi 3b, 3b+, 4 or similar single board computer (SBC) running Ubuntu or Raspbian, I might not be entering in the command correctly, but I kind of doubt it would work anyway, since esc doesn't work and real vnc is supposed to send special key events like esc and cell alt del, etc.( But I'd love to see a tutorial on executing a python script with a key binding, to be sure.) I downloaded obkey to easily create key bindings, hoping I could create a keyboard shortcut to stop the looper with python script or command. I tried creating a different user and logging in still same problem, even though when looper is stopped I see different desktop. I tried creating virtual desk top, then finding ip and using that to connect with real vnc and still black screen. Then go back to my cloud connection on real vnc and no more black screen. I can issue command to stop the looper in terminal. When I log in directly with remote desk top over Ethernet I get a virtual desk top, which is nice. Normally esc key would stop the looper, but does nothing while cloud connected with real vnc. I've also tried using key bindings.but the keys don't seem to be operable while in black screen mode. It's not a start up 's a, hey Joe just logged in, event that triggers the script. I'm looking for a script to be run later, when another user logs in. Remember the pi will have already been booted up and running. ![]()
